NORTHWEST MUSLIM UNITY EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The consultation with different people to solve the Moon sighting issue are being carried out by different groups. It is thought that if Muslim unity is achieved in the NorthWest regarding the moon sighting issue then it can be achieved any where in the world.
Note: In the late 80's, Unity was acieved in the Midlands using a policy that after the birth of the moon, if it is still on the horizon after first sunset then the next day will be considered to be the first of the next Islamic month.
Also in 1996, unity was acieved in Scotland using a different policy that after the birth of the moon, if the moon is on the horizon after sunset when 16 hours have elapsed then the next day will be considered to be the first of the next Islamic month.
(This is based on a possible sighting of the moon, and is considered by many to be more closer to the Sharia'h Law).
The next committee meeting will not be held due to the transfer of the Pakistan Consulate and lack of cooperation of religious groups in 1998. Further progress was not made
